Hey Lovebirds,
If there’s one thing Euphoria got right about weddings, it’s this: what you think something costs and what it actually costs are usually two very different things.
When Cassie demanded $50,000 worth of florals for her wedding, the internet collectively gasped. As a wedding planner, I didn’t blink.
Because here’s the truth. $50K in florals does not get you what that episode showed. Not even close.
What you saw on screen, the overflowing ceremony arches, the aisle covered in petals, the installations climbing every surface, and the fully transformed reception space, was not a $50K floral moment. That was a six figure design. And in reality, the production reportedly spent well over $100K on florals alone.
From a planner’s perspective, that level of floral design is not just about flowers. It is about scale, labor, logistics, and intention. You are not simply ordering centerpieces. You are building an environment.
That wedding used tens of thousands of stems across the ceremony and reception. Think about that for a second. That is not a standard floral order. That is a full scale production. You need a design team, installation crews, transportation, storage, and a timeline that runs more like a production schedule than a traditional wedding day.
This is where couples are often caught off guard.
They will say, “I just want it to feel full.”
But full is one of the most expensive design directions you can choose.
Fullness requires volume. Volume requires product. And product, especially premium blooms like peonies, garden roses, and orchids, adds up quickly. Then you layer in labor, which is often the most underestimated cost, and suddenly that $50K budget becomes the starting point rather than the limit.
What Euphoria did beautifully was capture the emotional psychology behind luxury weddings.
That wedding was not really about florals. It was about perception.
It was about creating something so visually perfect and overwhelmingly beautiful that it masked everything underneath. As planners, we see this often, not in such an extreme or cinematic way, but in the desire to curate an experience that feels larger than life.
Here is the difference between television and reality.
On television, the number is part of the storyline.
In real life, the number is part of the strategy.
A $50K floral budget can absolutely create something stunning, but it has to be intentional. That might mean focusing on the ceremony and repurposing for the reception. It could mean investing in statement installations for key moments instead of covering every inch of the space.
Because the goal is not to recreate a television wedding.
It is to design something that feels just as impactful without needing tens of thousands of stems to achieve it.
And if there is one takeaway from Euphoria, it is this.
Luxury is not about how much you spend. It is about how thoughtfully you spend it.
